On this Day in Georgia Sports History…..

 September 25, 2017:

On this day in 2010, Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox of the Atlanta Braves won his 2,500th game as a major league manager, becoming just the fourth manager ever to reach the milestone. In the game, played at Washington’s Nationals Park, Braves pitcher Derek Lowe threw five shut out innings and shortstop Alex Gonzalez hit a three-run home run as the Braves blanked the Washington Nationals, 5-0. A major league manager for twenty-nine seasons with the Braves (1978-81, 1990-2010) and the Toronto Blue Jays (1982-85), Cox retired after the 2010 season with a total of 2,504 career victories and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.
