On this Day in Georgia Sports History…..

February 21, 2017:

On this day in 1979, Hall of Fame center Tree Rollins of the Atlanta Hawks blocked a career-high 12 shots in one game.  Facing the Portland Trailblazers at Atlanta’s Omni Center, Rollins finished the game with 11 points and 13 rebounds (giving him a triple double) as the Hawks blew out the Blazers, 106-83.  After playing eighteen seasons in the NBA (1977-95), Rollins retired with 2,542 career blocked shots and currently ranks 10th all-time on the NBA’s blocked shots list.
